What it means for you

  • Duration

One to two hours, then a break is welcome.

  • Effort you feel

The resistance is distinct at every breath in.

  • Activity

Calm activities; not well suited to effort.

What it does not tell you

The XRS level measures breathing comfort, not protection. To know what this mask filters, look at its protection class (for example FFP2, N95, KN95) and the manufacturer's instructions. An XRS level never replaces a safety instruction.

How it is measured

A laboratory measures the effort needed to draw air through the new mask. This level corresponds to a specific resistance between 100 and 140 Pa/(L·s⁻¹).
